Why we built What Heart Says

This started with a bad apology. Not a dramatic one — just the ordinary kind, typed into a chat box, sent, and immediately regretted. The words were right. The container was wrong. Something that mattered had been delivered in the same grey bubble as "on my way" and "lol."

The container matters

We kept noticing it. Proposals typed out and sent. Birthday wishes lost in a flood of other birthday wishes. Anniversaries marked with a heart emoji because the moment to say more had passed. The feeling was always bigger than the format we had to say it in.

Physical cards solve some of this — but they're slow, they need a shop and a stamp, and half the people we love live in other cities. We wanted the warmth and ceremony of a real card with the reach and immediacy of a link.

What we're actually building

So What Heart Says is small on purpose. Each card is a tiny piece of theatre that plays out on someone's phone — an envelope that opens, a countdown that ticks, a letter that types itself out one word at a time. No app. No account. Just a link that turns a message into a moment.

We're early, and there's a lot we still want to build. But the belief underneath it is simple: the things you feel most deserve better than a grey bubble. That's the whole company.
